How will we accomplish our mission?

As with all things, it is good to have a plan of attack but also a willingness to change and adapt as God leads. Thus far our plans have evolved numerous times and surely will in the future. We want to help the homeless who want to help themselves. Because of this, we require them to have jobs within two weeks of moving in to the Firehouse. Our mission is to NOT be a long-term housing provider. We want our "tenants" to move out into their own housing in less than six months.

We do not charge rent to those who are financially unable to pay. But for those who have some income, we charge a very low rate for the housing. Our goal is to acclimate them to paying for housing. So for many we will charge $150/month. For those who are more financially stable, we charge around $300.   If you encounter any person who is in need of housing please contact either Jason Neland or Justin Hoskins whose info can be found on the "contacts" page.

To reach those on our street we are working on hosting more community activities that will reveal our hearts to those we are around. Because we are outsiders to the inner city culture, those from this area are not as open to us. So please pray for us that we may have open doors with our community. We desire to have Bible studies that will not just inform our community of what Jesus and the Bible are about, but also that we could train up Christians to go out into other parts of this world and make disciples.

What is our vision/mission for the future?

One possibility is to develop the Firehouse into a home base for the ministry where a group of us will live in a community type environment that we pray will mirror the church described in the book of Acts. It is right in the middle of several multi-housing facilities and our hope will be to reach out to all who are in that community in whatever way possible.   This could mean starting a house church, mowing a lawn or helping someone fix up their house. As we live in the area we will assess the needs of our neighbors around us and do whatever we can to help meet those needs. We will use the building and the land to do neighborhood outreaches such as block-parties, concerts, bible studies, sports and VBS type activities.
